Work Competency:

• Handle mechanical and electrical tasks and are highly involved with maintaining automated equipment and state-of-the-art machinery
• Mechatronics technicians apply their engineering knowledge to solve technical problems and maintain automated mechanical equipment
• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical components

Plastic-Extrusion Process Technicians start-up extrusion lines until profile quality standards are met.

Work Competency:

• Requires specialized knowledge of materials, setup, start-up, monitoring, specific tooling, and equipment
• Troubleshooting tasks are demanding and include preventing defects, dealing with inconsistent material, changing parameters, faulty equipment, and human error
• Technicians ensure extrusion lines, auxiliary equipment, and connected automated systems are set to regulation parameters, meet quality standards and production goals
• Technicians provide feedback on extrusion tooling, assist process engineering, dial in tooling for optimal run time and quality, and apply all aspects of scientific extruding.

Tool and Die Makers work with computer-controlled machinery and mechanical equipment to cut, shape, and finish tools, instruments, and metal parts to precision levels

Work Competency:

• Reading blueprints, sketches, specifications, or Computer-Aided Design (CAD) or Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) files for making tools and dies
• Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces
• Set up, operate, and disassemble conventional, manual, and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools
• File, grind, and adjust parts so they fit together properly
• Inspect completed tooling to ensure they meet specifications
• Benchwork and polish the surfaces of tools and dies
